Create a beautiful patchwork cross‑body tote bag in this inspiring one‑day workshop. You’ll combine denim and tweed to make a modern, stylish and sustainable accessory. This workshop is perfect for anyone who has completed our Beginners Sewing Course and wants to build their skills with a project that feels achievable yet exciting.

👜The front of your cross-body bag will feature a patchwork panel made from denim and tweed. These fabrics work beautifully together and give your bag a unique, textured look. The back will be made from a single fabric to add strength and balance. This combination keeps the project manageable while still giving you plenty of creative freedom.
Inside, your bag will be fully lined. You’ll add a zipped pocket to keep your essentials safe and organised. This is a great introduction to a zip technique very common in bags and purses. However it’s not covered in our Beginners courses so it may be new to you. The bag will close with a magnetic clasp, giving it a clean and professional finish. You’ll also create an adjustable strap. This means you’ll learn how to attach the hardware correctly and securely. These skills are useful for many future bag‑making projects, so it’s a brilliant technique to add to your sewing toolkit.

♻️This Patchwork Cross-Body bag workshop is also a wonderful introduction to upcycling. Denim and tweed are perfect for re‑use: I’ll provide a ‘kit’ containing in everything you’ll need including lining, fusible interfacing, webbing for the strap, a zip, magnetic closure and the hardware for the adjustable strap.  You’ll learn how to work with mixed fabric weights and stabilisers, and how to achieve a polished result even when using reclaimed materials.

Artisan Stitch provides multi-award‑winning sewing tuition and is proud to be Scotland’s leading sewing school. You’ll learn in a friendly, relaxed and supportive environment where creativity comes first. Clear demonstrations and expert guidance will help you feel confident at every stage.

This workshop is suitable for improvers. You should be able to use a sewing machine confidently and have completed my Beginners Sewing Course XL or have similar experience.

Please check here before booking, as once purchased, tickets are non‑refundable.
