Cannot recommend highly enough

I have participated in a number of sewing and textile art courses run by Jen. I started 4 years ago with a beginners sewing course followed by an improvers sewing course. I completed a beginners dressmaking course and much to my astonishment managed to successfully sew a skirt! My main interest is however in the textile art workshops Jen has run – mostly pre Covid times but I am delighted to read in the most recent newsletter that she will be offering more textile art courses this year. I highly recommend the free motion embroidery workshop. For experienced – and not so experienced sewers – it offers a new skill to add to the sewing skills toolbox – like drawing with a sewing machine! I’ve already signed up to the print, collage, stitch workshop in May and was delighted to read in the newsletter that there will be a couple of textile art courses in the summer school programme this year – am particularly interested in the print, stitch, quilt course.

Jen is a very skilled and knowledgeable teacher – of sewing, dressmaking and all things textile art. She puts even the most inept aspiring sewer (me) at ease, instills confidence, has a wealth of practical tips up her sleeve and is always calm and reassuring. She is not just an excellent teacher, she has a range of examples of her own sewing and amazing textile art on display in the workshop.

Gosh Jenny, be careful or my head won’t fit through the door. Thank you so much for that amazing review. I’m looking forward to catching up when you come in May, and yes ‘Print, Stitch, Quilt’ is definitely up your street.

I attended Jen’s dressmaking class this summer . The second of her courses I have taken.

Jen’s teaching methods are very thorough and easy to follow. The atmosphere in the class was ,as before, great fun and everyone was supportive .

Complete Newbie

Completely new to sewing so signed up for the 3-day Beginner’s Intensive Sewing Class. Ideal class to learn the absolute basics about machine sewing, types of stitch, knowing your machine and reading patterns etc. Mornings were spent on practice and technique and afternoons we made a tote bag, cushion cover and makeup bag. You could also opt to make a fourth item or bring in something from home to alter (which I did and am very chuffed with). Jen is very patient and helped guide everyone through their respective sews. I thoroughly recommend this class as I am no longer scared of my sewing machine!

I have just completed the 3 day intensive sewing course and highly recommend it. Jen is a fantastic teacher and I appreciated the format of the day, learning sewing skills in the morning and working on a project in the afternoon. I’m looking forward to booking onto the dressmaking course.

Hi Angie, Thanks for your review. I’m glad you enjoyed the format of the course and still learned lots even though you’d done some sewing before. See you again soon!

Excellent in every way

I have just completed the 3 day beginners course The course was fast paced but very well taught and supported and I learned more in 3 days than I ever thought possible. I have had a sewing machine for a year but was ‘scared’ of it. I couldn’t even thread it ready to use. I am now really confident in threading, filling bobbins, sewing seams and generally using a machine. On top of that I made button holes inserted zips and made 3 fabulous usable projects including a bag, cushion (with button holes) and make up bag with zip!! Wow progress indeed and all supported in a small class where no question was too stupid and no problem left unresolved. Exhausted but learned SO much I’ve already booked next courses. Thanks Jen a wonderful course!
