Cannot recommend highly enough
I have participated in a number of sewing and textile art courses run by Jen. I started 4 years ago with a beginners sewing course followed by an improvers sewing course. I completed a beginners dressmaking course and much to my astonishment managed to successfully sew a skirt! My main interest is however in the textile art workshops Jen has run – mostly pre Covid times but I am delighted to read in the most recent newsletter that she will be offering more textile art courses this year. I highly recommend the free motion embroidery workshop. For experienced – and not so experienced sewers – it offers a new skill to add to the sewing skills toolbox – like drawing with a sewing machine! I’ve already signed up to the print, collage, stitch workshop in May and was delighted to read in the newsletter that there will be a couple of textile art courses in the summer school programme this year – am particularly interested in the print, stitch, quilt course.
Jen is a very skilled and knowledgeable teacher – of sewing, dressmaking and all things textile art. She puts even the most inept aspiring sewer (me) at ease, instills confidence, has a wealth of practical tips up her sleeve and is always calm and reassuring. She is not just an excellent teacher, she has a range of examples of her own sewing and amazing textile art on display in the workshop.

Jen's awards are well deserved!
I undertook the 6 week beginners sewing course in Nov/Dec 2025 along with 5 other ladies. The course was excellent and I feel much more confident with sewing machines, sewing techniques and all things fabric and stitching. Jen is inspiring, patient, knowledgeable and passionate about teaching and I’m looking forward to building on what I’ve learned so far by signing up for the next level improvers and dress-making course! Can’t recommend Jen and Artisan Stitch highly enough.

Beginner sewing class
I had a great time taking the beginners evening class over a number of weeks. Jen was very patient and helpful and the small size of the class made it ideal. I’d definitely recommend it.

6 week Beginners XL Class
I did this class about a year ago, over two days, but unfortunately circumstances meant that sewing had to take a back seat soon after. Undeterred, I signed up again, but this time the classes were spread out over 6 weeks – giving the opportunity to consolidate what I’d learnt as well as practice in between lessons. Jen is a fantastic teacher. So much patience and always takes time to help and explain in a very easy to understand way. It’s a great class – cannot recommend it enough!

The 2 day beginner course was fantastic. I have not sat at a sewing machine for nearly 40 years so was excited but also nervous of what was to come. Jen made everyone welcome and feel at ease. The course provided a great overview of sewing where I learned all the basic process and techniques as well as lots of practical tips from our expert tutor, Jen. I was delighted to make 2 projects and very proud of myself for being able to do a decent job with support from Jen. I highly recommend this course and hope to attend another next year.
