Cannot recommend highly enough

I have participated in a number of sewing and textile art courses run by Jen. I started 4 years ago with a beginners sewing course followed by an improvers sewing course. I completed a beginners dressmaking course and much to my astonishment managed to successfully sew a skirt! My main interest is however in the textile art workshops Jen has run – mostly pre Covid times but I am delighted to read in the most recent newsletter that she will be offering more textile art courses this year. I highly recommend the free motion embroidery workshop. For experienced – and not so experienced sewers – it offers a new skill to add to the sewing skills toolbox – like drawing with a sewing machine! I’ve already signed up to the print, collage, stitch workshop in May and was delighted to read in the newsletter that there will be a couple of textile art courses in the summer school programme this year – am particularly interested in the print, stitch, quilt course.

Jen is a very skilled and knowledgeable teacher – of sewing, dressmaking and all things textile art. She puts even the most inept aspiring sewer (me) at ease, instills confidence, has a wealth of practical tips up her sleeve and is always calm and reassuring. She is not just an excellent teacher, she has a range of examples of her own sewing and amazing textile art on display in the workshop.

Gosh Jenny, be careful or my head won’t fit through the door. Thank you so much for that amazing review. I’m looking forward to catching up when you come in May, and yes ‘Print, Stitch, Quilt’ is definitely up your street.

Beginners Sewing Course XL

June 11, 2026

I have just finished the Beginners Sewing Course XL at Artisan Stitch and I can really recommend it to anyone who is new to sewing or who has had a longer break from sewing and needs a refresher. Jen is really thorough and methodical in the way she teaches the different techniques and she is happy to offer extra tips, tricks or help where needed. It is a nicely structured course and the projects you get to make are just perfect for the time available. I cannot describe how pleased I was with myself after leaving class with a tote bag I had just made! I have learned so much during this course and it has set me up well to continue my sewing journey.

Hello Rebecka. Thank you so much for this wonderful review. I’m delighted you enjoyed the Beginners Sewing Course XL and that you felt proud of what you achieved — that tote bag moment is always such a confidence boost.

It was a pleasure to see your skills grow each week, and your thoughtful approach to learning really showed in the quality of your work. Keeping the momentum going is so important when you’re building new skills, so I’m thrilled you’ve already continuing into the Intro to Dressmaking course. You’ve set yourself up brilliantly for the next stage of your sewing journey.

Well done again, and thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

Trouser fitting class

June 8, 2026

I have been trying for years to make trousers that fit with no success, despite spending money on books, online classes and a lot of time making test samples all with no success only frustration. Then I attended Jen’s class and now have a sample for my specific body, what a relief!

Jen is an excellent tutor with a lot of expert knowledge, she quickly analyses the problem and shows you how to fix it.

It’s a very friendly and relaxed class and a nice place to meet people with the same interests.

I would definitely be looking to attend future classes and learn more.

Hi Sue,

Thank you for sharing this. It was lovely to meet you. I’m so pleased the workshop gave you the clarity and confidence you’d been searching for. Trouser fitting is one of the trickiest skills to master on your own, so I’m glad I could help.

It was lovely having you in the class, and I’m delighted you felt supported and at ease. I’d love to continue to help you in future sessions.

A fascinating day of experimentation

June 1, 2026

I recently attended Jen’s Sculptured Seashores workshop. It was a great day and we learned how to use a range of stabilising and soluble fabrics to create some amazing – and realistic effects.

Jen is lovely and created a welcoming and friendly environment which made the day even more enjoyable. All in all a much recommended workshop. I look forward to attending more of her textile workshops

Hand Embroidery - The Stitched Garden

June 1, 2026

I have now completed the beginners course and numerous dressmaking classes with Jen. Recently I decided as much as I love the dressmaking courses I needed a new challenge. I decided this would be Hand Embroidery so spent Sunday afternoon learning all the basic embroidery stitches. Both Sholeh and Jen explained and taught all the various stitches at a pace that suited each individual. I came away feeling I could tackle these embroidery stitches on my own and make my very own stitched garden.
