I have participated in a number of sewing and textile art courses run by Jen. I started 4 years ago with a beginners sewing course followed by an improvers sewing course. I completed a beginners dressmaking course and much to my astonishment managed to successfully sew a skirt! My main interest is however in the textile art workshops Jen has run – mostly pre Covid times but I am delighted to read in the most recent newsletter that she will be offering more textile art courses this year. I highly recommend the free motion embroidery workshop. For experienced – and not so experienced sewers – it offers a new skill to add to the sewing skills toolbox – like drawing with a sewing machine! I’ve already signed up to the print, collage, stitch workshop in May and was delighted to read in the newsletter that there will be a couple of textile art courses in the summer school programme this year – am particularly interested in the print, stitch, quilt course.

Jen is a very skilled and knowledgeable teacher – of sewing, dressmaking and all things textile art. She puts even the most inept aspiring sewer (me) at ease, instills confidence, has a wealth of practical tips up her sleeve and is always calm and reassuring. She is not just an excellent teacher, she has a range of examples of her own sewing and amazing textile art on display in the workshop.

I attended the free motion embroidery class . I enjoyed it a lot. Jen is a very easy person to get along with and was so helpful. I found it very hard – but most people were brilliant! She has some fantastic little exercises she got us all to do at the beginning before we even put thread in the machine and I think that the one suggestion that I would make is that these could maybe be sent out as an exercise to do at home before class so that klutzes like me could practice for longer and be better able to keep up in class. Nevertheless I am determined to use my new found knowledge to practice practice practice and I will (eventually) progress!

Wonderful free motion class. Jen is talented and approachable tutor. I enjoyed it very much but I found it very difficult – everyone else managed so much better. Jen has devised some wonderful exercises at the start before thread is even put in the machine. My one suggestion is that it might be a good idea to email these before the class so that klutzes like me could spend a lot of time on them and keep up better with everyone in class. I am inspired to practise practise practise – and (eventually) be able to do something worthwhile

I recently did the Beginner Sewing two day course with Jen and it was an absolute joy. I learned so much, but more importantly, Jen is brilliant at explaining things clearly and is very encouraging. I would definitely recommend her classes!

I have recently completed the 6-week beginners class. It was a well structured class and was a brilliant introduction to sewing. Jen was a patient and knowledgeable teacher . The class was small, and therefore, everyone got individual attention when needed. The videos on the website are a fantastic resource
